If you are 70½ or older, you have a unique opportunity to sustain this vibrant community of learning while enjoying a significant tax benefit. Through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), you can direct a tax-free gift from your IRA directly to the Haberman Institute. (Note: You should consult a tax advisor or other professional for additional information regarding your specific financial situation.)
If you are 73 or older, a QCD counts directly toward satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the 2026 tax year, providing clear financial advantages:
Reduce Your Taxable Income: The distribution goes directly to the Haberman Institute, meaning it is excluded from your adjusted gross income (AGI).
Maximize Your Philanthropic Impact: Your gift goes toward supporting high-quality, in-depth encounters with Jewish thought, history, and culture.
Protect Your Benefits: Keeping your AGI lower can help prevent you from being pushed into a higher tax bracket or triggering higher Medicare premiums.
You should consult a tax advisor or other professional regarding your specific situation.
As a 501(c)(3) organization recognized with a Charity Navigator 4-Star Rating and the Candid Platinum Seal, we ensure that your generosity is managed with the highest level of transparency.
Financial institutions experience high volume in December, so we recommend initiating your request soon to ensure it is processed by the December 31 deadline! To make a QCD for this tax year, please give your custodian these instructions to issue your distribution directly to us:
Legal Name: Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies
EIN: 13-3174628
Mailing Address: 2200 Baltimore Road, Suite B, Rockville, MD 20851
If you have questions or would like to notify us of an upcoming distribution, please email fania@habermaninstitute.org. Thank you for your enduring partnership and dedication to lifelong Jewish learning.
Disclaimer: Tax laws are complex and subject to change. The Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies does not provide legal or tax advice. You should consult a tax advisor or other professional for additional information regarding your specific situation before initiating an IRA distribution.
