The Jewish Community of Northern Virginia and the Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies invite you to enjoy a "taste" of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning. Meet one of our teachers, sample a lesson, and experience Melton's text-based, discussion-oriented approach to Jewish learning.

This class, led by Cantor Allen Leider, will help answer the question of why the study of Jewish text is central to Jewish learning and to the Melton experience. We’ll explore the idea of Torah as an inheritance, legacy and a heritage. What does Jewish tradition teach about the value of Torah? Why is this important for us and future generations? You will also be introduced to the topics of Melton courses to get your feedback on what courses you’d like us to offer.

Melton courses are ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding of the basics of Judaism and Jewish living, regardless of prior knowledge.

This class is free and open to the public. Advance registration is requested.
