Dr. Rachel Korazim is a leading Jewish educator and internationally renowned teacher of Israeli literature, known for bringing Hebrew poetry to life for diverse audiences around the world. Through her teaching and the global online learning community she founded during the COVID-19 pandemic, she has helped thousands engage deeply with Israeli culture and moral discourse.
In this session, Rachel will introduce the poetry of Nathan Alterman through a new bilingual anthology of his poems, The Mirror of the Times, a project spearheaded by Rachel together with the Department of Jewish Peoplehood in the Office of the Vice Chair of the World Zionist Organization, Dr. Yizhar Hess. Many of the poems will be available in English for the first time.
One of the central voices of modern Hebrew poetry, Alterman wrote in response to the political and moral challenges of his time, moving between poetry and public life and combining sharp critique with a deep commitment to Israel.
Through selected poems, Rachel will explore Alterman’s questions about Israel, responsibility, and the role of a moral voice in times of crisis and how these questions continue to resonate in Israel today.

Dr. Rachel Korazim is a Jewish education consultant in curriculum development for Israel and Holocaust education. Rachel opens for her audiences a window to Israeli society through literature; through stories, poems, and songs of the best of Israel’s writers, she invites listeners to engage with Israel in an innovative way.
Since the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, Rachel created a global community of hundreds of learners who meet to study Israeli poetry online regularly –
Rachel teaches at Israel’s well-known learning centers such as Pardes and the Shalom Hartman Institutes as well as numerous world Jewish communities.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys scuba diving in the cenotes of Playa del Carmen in Mexico and the amazing coral sites of the Red Sea. She is also a very active grandmother of eight grandchildren who all live in Israel.
