Paradoxes of Historic Documents that Shaped Jewish Identity: The Good, The Bad, The Horrific

Presented by David Epstein
Jewish Educator

For the past 250 years, Jews have been defined, sometimes as individuals, as a collective, or not mentioned but fitted into an overall definition. The presentation will consider the consequences of each definition, then and now.

Included will be texts by Napoleon, George Washington, Ulysses.S. Grant, Theodore Herzl and deliberate antisemitic tracts.

Join us to consider these questions, among many others… How do adversaries seek to define Jews? How do Jews seek to be defined? When and why does it matter ?

Register to receive the Zoom link to join us online. Barring technical issues, this session will be posted in our Program Archive.
